Mongolia has been asked to help Vietnam expand its oil and gas fields, Philippines will also join a joint military exercise with its biggest rival China, and Malaysia has been asked to aid its defense, according to a statement from the Philippines’ foreign affairs affairs office.

As part of the joint training, Indonesia and Singapore will conduct an exercise in May this year to “strengthen” anti-piracy capabilities between the two countries and they have discussed military cooperation and other issues, said a senior defense official in Jakarta, Indonesia.
According to ABS-CBN, the two countries plan to form the first “interim” bilateral defense cooperation unit of its kind, with an emphasis on the security of the Indo-Pacific region.
